Exhibitors at the 18th session of the China International Furniture Fair (Guangzhou) (CIFF) have been steadily booking orders over the past two days of the show.
Zhejiang Kuka Technics Sofa Manufacturing Co Ltd had received orders for about 60 40-foot containers, or about US$800,000 worth of its products, by yesterday afternoon, said Berton Chan, an export manager of the company. The orders were for deliveries to numerous countries and regions including the United States, Canada, Australia and Europe, he said at his booth in the modern home furniture hall.
Chan, who is participating at CIFF for the third time, said orders had been ever increasing at the fair.
Lin Xiang, chairman and general manager of Yuhuan Zhongshan Furniture Co Ltd, said he had inked orders for about a dozen containers of the company¡¯s classic home furniture products.
Sunrising Furniture Co Ltd had also received intentions to purchase about 20 containers worth of goods from buyers from countries including Saudi Arabia and Ireland in its first appearance at the fair.
The company decided to attend the fair because it had grown strong enough to enter the export business, sales manager Allen Cui said after talking to a Taiwanese buyer.
Cui said his company plans to participate in CIFF again next year with a larger booth.
Zhuhai IDO Furniture Co Ltd will also return next year, said deputy manager Jiang Gang.
Jiang said that by meeting several existing customers at the fair, the company can better communicate with clients and show them the latest models.
Compared with some other furniture fairs in China, CIFF excels in the number of overseas buyers attending, he observed.
This is just what interests IDO, since exports account for more than 60 per cent of its business, he added.
Janardhanan Ravesanker, general manager of the furniture division of East Asia Buying Services Ltd, said he planned to place orders at the fair.
Visiting from India, he is looking for recliners and dining sets at the fair, and such environmentally friendly products as those made of bamboo and cane.
Nearly 400 renowned furniture firms from home and abroad are showcasing their products at CIFF.
About 50,000 trade visitors, including more than 9,000 from overseas, are expected to attend the fair, which is being held together with Hometextile China 2006 (August) and Homedecor & Housewares China 2006 (August) at the Chinese Export Commodities Fair Pazhou Complex.
